I sent email requesting info. I have a reconstructed spine and am in cronic
pain 24/7. I have been unable to work. I have started a Country Blues Act

website as no one else seems to understand how pain effects your life. With
constant medication music has been my only outlet. Thank God for music!
Thank God for you! Keep up the good work for you never know who you will

Hello i'm a 18 year old drummer with Muscular Dystrophy. I mostly play heavy
metal and punk but I have had some experience with funk (If you can play
funk you can usually play anything). I have tons of experience playing shows
and what not. I guess I chose the drums because it's one of the most
adiquate instruments I could think of for the disabled musician because you
can basically change your setup around to fit your disability. I've been
playing for about 5 years in a band and have done a few blues projects on
the side.

Hi my name is Kevin and I have A.D.D. what is known as Attention Defecit
Disorder. I am currently starting a non-for-profit organization dealing with
teaching young children both with disablilities and non-disablities, how to

I would like some pointers on how I can get funding for something like this
and who may be interested in donating equipment, I know this is forward, but
I really have a love for music and helping people like myself develope there
love for music. I just need help getting started on the write (note) so if

hi to all music-lovers around the world from
http://www.race.at/
On January 18th you performed at an assembly in Bretton Woods Elementary. It
was not only entertaining, but informative and uplifting. I think what your
organization provides to the public and its members is priceless. I happen
to be a Special Education teacher and have always taught my own two children
that no one is perfect and everyone has strengths and weakness'( along with
tolerance for people that may not able to express themselves verbally or
move as quickly as they can). What Range of Motion provided was the visual
that, everyone should try and strive to reach their goals. I hope you
perform at my children's school- I gave their principal and director your
number. I think all schools should be involved with your organization. Thank
you for all that you do! Sincerely, Melissa Drayer-Arnow Bretton Woods

Hello... I hate to be so dramatic but -tears- is what happened when I read
this website. This is wonderful. Thank you. I too have Muscular Dystrophy
and I've always wanted to play music but just figured it was out of my reach
due to limited use of my hands. A guitar playing friend turned me on to the
harmonica and I've been learning that and having loads of fun. Tomorrow I
will rent a guitar and start developing some adaptive equipment that will
allow me to play. I am sure if I put everything I've got into it I can make
it happen. Maybe it's already happening I just need to find it. If you have
any ideas, information, or input please e-me at

Patty Mowery Thank you Here is what the news said about me?. Poet/Storyteller Patty Mowery Performs Poet and storyteller Patty Mowery is creative, resourceful AND persistant. Speaking of her life and disability, Patty states, "Through out the years I have tried to hold on to my dreams, I kept them alive by setting goals for myself .... I never gave up because that would defeat my purpose. Defeat leads to quitting and I am not a quitter. Part of not giving up is my independence, the harder things are, the more I am determine to go on..." Her persistance has resulted in the fulfilment of her dream to "have a CD with her name on it" and two upcoming performances in the Phoenix area where she will be telling her "heart-warming Christmas story called Annie & Willy's Prayer. First, I want to tell you how pleased I am to discover your web site for
musicians with disabilities. However, as a disability rights activist and
musician (mostly composer) with a disability, I'm disappointed by the fact
that the site doesn't appear to be accessible for users of some special
screen readers for the blind. I maintain my own personal web site at
http://www.geocities.com/dhcpolwnk, and though the site doesn't include
all the bells and whistles that some sites have, I have been able to keep
most of it accessible and to alert visitors about accessibility problems
over which I have no control.
Second, I wanted to ask whether your organization and/or web site is aimed solely at live performers, or whether it includes composers and those who (like me) work mostly through MIDI equipment and software. I have written quite a few songs, many of which are available in MIDI format of the Songs page of my web site. I've also written a couple of more ambitious pieces ("As Heaven Weeps," a 13-minute tone poem about the Sept. 11 attacks on the U.S., and most recently, the "Seven-of-Eight Suite," a compilation of seven short vignettes in 7/8 meter). Much of this music also is available in MP3 format at http://www.MP3.com.au/LauraRemsonMitchell . I invite you to visit and listen. Finally, I want to wish you and your organizationation continued success. --Laura Remson Mitchell
I have one suggestion. The name of your organization should not focus on the
negative. It should read "Musicians with Disabilities." Not disabled
musicians.

I'm doing a history fair project on people in the music industry with
disabilities. I was hoping you could post some information that might help
me. Any information would be nice. Thank you so much
To the history fair student: CDM has no special knowledge of people in the
music industry with disabilities. You would have to search this yourself.
However, there is plenty of information on this website on musicians
associated with CDM - just click on "Musicians."
I stumbled across your site while surfing the internet and am impressed that
their is a resource for disabled musicians. Thanks! I am (or was) a church
musician for many years (piano, organ, keyboard, choir, worship leader, and
choir director) and I composed music for worship until I suffered a massive
stroke in 1999. I miss playing music so much! I am paralyzed on my right
side and now I have had a seizure to complicate things further. It is good
to know that other musicians are workung through their disabilities also.
Perhaps I can gain some encouragement from them via this website.
I enjoyed reading the biographies of the musicians. Very inspiring.
Dear All, Thanking you for the most helpful site we would like to arrange a
Colition like that in Russia mainly to help the Musicians deaf as a result
of their professional activity. We have heard there is one in Germany and
would like to contact it to find out its basics and how to start. We'll be
most grateful for any possible assistance in how to start. Best regards,

This is a great site, I am in a wheelchair from a bad accident causing a
brain-injury. I also lost my little brother, but I am moving on. I play bass
guitar, I have a 4 & 5 string. I am not excelent, but pretty good. I contiue
to play and this site is very inspriational. Thanks, e-mail me back if you
want.
As a visually impaired person I found the site relatively easy to get around. The use of music on the home page sometimes made it hard for me to hear the text but that may just be my cheap speakers Of course, graphics are not available and I don't know of any program that would handle that better. I use JAWS and it is not that compatible wth AOL which now runs off/with? google. Using speech programs takes a grat deal of time and patience except if you are reading straight text. That's all folks! Barbara P.S if you had the time, and there was a demand-- you might have a lnk to pages for visally impaired with no graphics, just simple text. good person to talk to is Jerry Randell at Helen Keller Inst.

Hello: My Name is Michael Driscoll. I am a disabled
musician/composer/arranger and sound engineer. Recently, I have received a
grant through RSA/OVR for assistive digital recording technology. I have
also started a small independent recording studio in my home. I would like

artists funding by ways of grants and fellowships has been difficult. I live

enough. I am very interested in becoming an advocate for my local disabled

appreciated. Thank you Peace and Music Michael Driscoll P. S. I apologize

hi to all music-lovers around the world from
http://www.race.at/
On January 18th you performed at an assembly in Bretton Woods Elementary. It
was not only entertaining, but informative and uplifting.

If you have
any ideas, information, or input please e-me at
bejamn66@aol.com Thank you... Ben in Chico CA

" She invites you to come, listen and "Help her dreams come true." Congratulations on all you have accomplished already! Carolan Quenneville

Dear CDM: I am not disabled. I am not wanting to discriminate however, in
finding members for my band. Are any of your services available to
non-disabled persons, to help them include disabled persons in the search
for musicians. I am starting a rock & roll band and want to give ample
opportunity for disabled persons to audition. My e-mail address is:
spiritiswilling@earthlink.net. My telephone number is (908) 874-5039.
Thank you very much. Barry De Saw
Your site is uplifting for those of us with disabilities. I am a guitar
player, who's played out for 30 yrs., recently recovering from liver
transplant, total renal failure, and 2 yrs. in the hospital with 11 other
operations. I need to get out and play again, and I'm having a hard time
getting started. Keep up the good work.
Well Done! I am really IMPRESSED! In looking for help for an
almost-completely-deaf singer/songwriter, I got a tip from a long-time
friend (drummer/hornplayer. WOW! It opened up a whole new world for me! I
immediately mailed a link to my sister who's a retired (37 yrs)high school
choral director. I KNOW this site is going to help my musical friend so
much. Namaste' and blessings to all who are a part of this. "Don't die with

Hello: My Name is Michael Driscoll. I am a disabled
musician/composer/arranger and sound engineer. Recently, I have received a
grant through RSA/OVR for assistive digital recording technology. I have
also started a small independent recording studio in my home. I would like
to receive a national referral service information packet. As an individual
artists funding by ways of grants and fellowships has been difficult. I live
in the Philadelphia area and state funding for individual's is difficult
enough. I am very interested in becoming an advocate for my local disabled
community. Any information regarding this subject would be greatly
appreciated. Thank you Peace and Music Michael Driscoll P. S. I apologize
